Burning Wood as a way to heat your Home is one option during the winter months
There are several options for doing so. We believe that the wood stove serves the purpose in the best way…
…at least in most conditions. If you’re going to cut wood or have a professional tree service cut wood for you, you should consider using the wood in a wood burning stove to help heat your home.
If you have access to your own wooded property and you know how to operate a chainsaw in a safe fashion, burning wood to help heat your home can save you quite a bit of money in the winter months.
There are many good wood burning stoves to choose from and several ways to go about it. For now we aren’t going to review one stove vs. another or all of the different ways you could go about installing a wood burning stove.
Safety issues and concerns should be covered before you even consider heating your home with wood.
Many people are now considering alternate ways to heat their homes due to the bad economy and such.
Making the decision to buy a stove and start burning wood for heat isn’t something we recommend jumping into with both feet over-night.
It will take some planning and possibly some consultation from an expert.
Here are some things to start thinking about before I end this post for know.
- Is burning wood really a realistic possibility for you to consider?
- Is your house structured in a way that you can install or have a wood stove and chimney installed.
- Do you have access to wood or can you have wood cut and delivered at a reasonable cost.
- Have you priced wood stoves and chimney materials plus installation costs?
Burning wood for winter heat can be very cost effective and enjoyable at the same time but you really need to consider these things and also some safety issues too.
In future posts we’ll cover many of these things and more.

I grew up with wood heat. It’s a heat that warms the house far better, in my opinion, that other heat. We now heat with other means but i have fond memories of wood heat, stacking and hauling wood.
